Arklow is a lively and bustling town located in South Wicklow at the mouth of the River Avoca and just off the M11 motorway. The town is divided in two by the well recognised Nineteen Arches Bridge, the longest stone arched bridge in Ireland. Arklow was, in its day, one of the busiest ports in Ireland and a renowned centre for boat building and sea fishing as well as having a fine tradition in the pottery industry. Arklow remains an active maritime community, the harbour has a busy fishing sector and there are two marinas along with a number of sailing, fishing and rowing clubs.
The town is home to the Arklow Bank Wind Park, a 25 megawatt offshore wind farm generating electrical power for the Wicklow region in Ireland. It is the first offshore wind farm in Ireland, and the world’s first erection of wind turbines rated over 3megawatts each. SSE Renewables have plans to develop and expand the Wind Park under their Phase 2 project.
Arklow is serviced by rail connections on the Dublin-Rosslare line with regular commuter and intercity services in and out of Dublin. Arklow is also well linked by bus connections and sits just off the motorway which is a direct link to the capital. For those preferring to take the DART, there are Park & Ride services available at Greystones.
Our 75 hectare development site is situated just off the Dublin Road next to St. Joseph's National School, Templerainey and has the potential to provide up to 1,500 residential units, assoicated community facilties, new roads connecting the site to the surrounding areas along with pedestrian and cycle paths.
